I Kalu Rimpoche

O Precedente Kalu Rimpoche (1904-1989) nasceu no leste do Tibete (região Kham). Foi ordenado monge aos 13 anos, em seguida realizou o tradicional retiro de 3 anos e também passou 12 anos meditando sozinho nas montanhas como um eremita. Foi um dos grandes mestres budistas de nosso tempo, Muito respeitado e querido por incontáveis seres que tiveram a sorte de conhecer e receber iniciações e ensinamentos deste santo realizado. Desde seu nascimento, no longínquo país das neves, sua atividade iluminada trouxe benefícios a inumeráveis seres. Reconhecido por sua extraordinária realização espiritual e vasta erudição, foi nomeado diretor de retiros de Palpung, um dos mais influentes monastérios da escola Kagyü, sede do Grande Tai Situ Rimpoche.

Antes da invasão chinesa no Tibete, foi enviado por Sua Santidade o 16°Karmapa ao Reino do Butão, mas logo foi para Índia, onde se instalou numa renomada região de Darjeeling. Em 1963 fundou sua sede e monastério no povoado de Sonada e o chamou de Samdrub Darje Chöling. A partir de 1971 desempenhou um papel transcedental e pioneiro na conservação e propagação do budismo no ocidente, fundando inúmeros centros de Dharma e centros de retiro, beneficiando com sua ação muitas pessoas na Europa e na América do Norte. Em particular, fundou no Brasil o Kagyü Pende Gyamtso (Um Oceano de Benefícios, traduzindo), um dos primeiros da América do Sul.

Este grande mestre e santo, entrou na paz do Paranirvana aos 85 anos, em meditação, no seu monastério-sede em Sonada. Seu corpo foi conservado em um sagrado relicário para inspirar seus discípulos e todos aqueles que tenham fé. Kalu Rimpoche passou a linhagem para seu filho de coração e sucessor, Dorye Chang Bokar Rimpoche.

Graças a sua visão e bondade, surgiram de seus centros de retiro os Lamas que hoje desempenham o papel de diretores e guias dos centros de Dharma fundados por ele. Bokar Rimpoche escreveu: “A doçura de seu ser, a onipresença de sua bondade, o brilho de sua sabedoria e seu irrestível senso de humor tocou o coração de seres de todas as partes do mundo”.


Ensinamentos do Dharma dados por Kyabje Kalu Rimpoche (1969 – 1989)

A atualidade e a pertinência dos ensinamentos do Dharma que Kalu Rimpoche deu generosamente para o benefício de todos os seres apareceu para nós novamente, ao lermos a transcrição de um ensinamento dado no Canadá, em 1974. O assunto era as seis paramitas e, olhando mais de perto, ficou evidente que sua característica divisão em três partes se encaixa exatamente ao texto de Taranatha, que estudamos no KPG. O Rimpoche estava comentando o mesmo texto, com sua costumeira capacidade de fazer sínteses do significado essencial combinando, ao mesmo tempo, uma grande riqueza de detalhes e ilustrações!

O dia 10 de maio de 2019 será o 30˚ aniversário da passagem do primeiro Kalu Rimpoche. Pela ocasião, nós consideramos apropriado compartilhar uma nova edição dos seus ensinamentos que foram preservados. Eles estão na forma de gravações em áudio e de transcrições em forma de textos. Nós agradecemos a todos que, de uma maneira ou outra, contribuíram para preservar e compartilhar esses preciosos ensinamentos.
